The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection was very supportive of the nomination for this facility. In addition, the facility has been provided with outstanding support from the Borough of Jewett City and the Department of Public Utilities

Griswold is accessible by vehicles from all directions. Exit 22 and Exit 24 off I-395 provide access to Route 138, Route 164 and Route 201. I-395 links with I-95 in East Lyme and with the Massachusetts Turnpike. Freight service is available from the Providence and Worcester Railroad that runs along the western edge of Griswold.
