MEDIA RELEASE - CT DOT - Enhanced warning signs
FOR RELEASE: UPON RECEIPT
Enhancement of regulatory and warning signs on unsignalized state road intersections in various Connecticut Towns in District 2:
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (Department) is developing plans for the systemic application of multiple low-cost proven safety countermeasures at single-lane, higher crash risk, stop-controlled intersections at the locations in the list below. The application of these Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) proven safety countermeasures (enhanced signing and pavement markings) increases driver awareness and recognition of the intersections and potential conflicts.
There are approximately 40 locations that have been screened and identified by the Department that may benefit from enhanced signing across the following 18 Municipalities in District 2: Ashford, Colchester, Columbia, Franklin, Griswold, Groton, Hampton, Killingly, Killingworth, Mansfield, New London, North Stonington, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, Preston, Salem, Waterford, and Windham.
