WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL GRISWOLD WEB SITE

Paul J. Brycki, First Selectman
Virginia Hoddy, Second Selectwoman
William Stetson, Third Selectman

Griswold is a rural community located in southeastern Connecticut. We are situated right off Interstate 395. Although Griswold has, in the past, been mostly farmland, we are building a strong tourism base. Located less than 20 miles from the Mohegan Sun Casino and Mystic, and 10 miles from Foxwoods, we are a perfect destination location. We have a bed and breakfast, gift shops, a lovely golf course and numerous restaurants. This summer we look forward to the opening of AmericInn Lodge and Suites.

Griswold is rich in forests, lakes and rivers. It is the home of Hopeville State Park and Pachaug State Forest, the largest state forest in Connecticut. You will find many campgrounds nestled along the shores of the Pachaug and Quinebaug Rivers. In our little town, whether you favor a rowboat, canoe or motorboat and water skiing you will find the perfect body of water to explore. All have state boat launch access.

If you are looking for a place to call home, you couldn't do better than Griswold! We are a half hour from Pfizers, the Groton Submarine Base and General Dynamics. We are within driving distance of Hartford, Worcester, Providence, Boston and New York. You can drive to the Connecticut or Rhode Island shore in less than an hour, or the mountains of New Hampshire or Vermont in only a few hours.

Our school system is one of the best in Eastern Connecticut. We have a beautiful campus that houses four schools and numerous recreation fields. Along with the academic success found in Griswold, we have a very active Little League, soccer teams, and football teams. Our taxes are reasonable and our high score on the Fitch Report speaks of our financial success.

If you are interested in land for commercial development, we have an abundance. Please call our Planning and Development office at (860) 376-7084.

Griswold covers 37.1 square miles and is comprised of seven villages: Pachaug, Hopeville, Glasgo, Rixtown, Jewett City, and Donasville, each with its own personality, distinct characteristics and history.

On behalf of the Selectmen of the Town of Griswold, we are pleased and honored for having the opportunity to serve our residents. Our most sincere thanks for their confidence in us.
