Transfer Station/Bulky Waste

Attention Griswold Residents Only

Bulky Waste Disposal

Residents, bring your household bulky waste to the Griswold Public Works Garage, 1148 Voluntown Road (Rte.138)

Hours: Every Wednesday from 10 AM to 2 PM

Starting Saturday, October 23, 2004 every Saturday from 7 AM to 12 Noon

Acceptable materials must be sorted and prepared as instructed:

Refrigerators/FreezersTiresMiscellaneous Items
Air ConditionersLead Acid BatteriesComputers/TV's/Electronics
Wood-4ft or less in lengthMotor OilCarpet-4' ft or less in length
Reusable ItemsScrap metal/
Metal Items
Brush-4" in diameter or less
Stove, Washers, Dryers, etc.Clothing/Linens/ShoesStuffed Furniture
Non Burnable Items such as sheetrock, asphalt shingles, bath fixtures, etc  

The following items will not be accepted for disposal:

No municipal solid waste - GARBAGE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED
Auto Parts Containing Fluids
Business or Industrial Waste
Recyclables Mixed with Garbage


Household Hazardous Waste Day to be held

October 16, 2004

9 AM to 2 PM

at the Public Works Garage

RECYCLABLES WILL BE ACCEPTED EVERY SATURDAY
STARTING OCTOBER 23, 2004.

PLEAE PACKAGE OR PREPARE AS FOLLOWS:

Must be rinsed. . .

Glass food & Beverage Containers
Metal Food & Beverage Containers
Aluminum Cans, Foil, & Baking Tins
All #1 PET & # 2 HDPE PLASTIC
Aseptic Juice Boxes & Polycoated Milk Cartons (please rinse, no need to remove labels)
Do not include containers of food, coat hangers, pots & pans, broken glass, window glass, dishes, light bulbs, oil or anti-freeze bottles, egg cartons, plastic bags, flower pots, appliances, etc.

The Following Items are to be placed in a brown bag or tied with stirng:

Newspapers, inserts, brown paper bags, telephone books, magazines, catalogues, junk mail, clean paperboard boxes, wrapping paper, office paper, etc.

Corrugated cardboard should be flattened in small bundles.

Please do not use plastic bags for any of the recyclable items.
