TAX CYCLE
 
JULY
First installment of Real Estate, Personal Property and Motor Vehicles tax bills are due and payable.
AUGUST
Unpaid tax bills begin accruing interest at 3% on the unpaid balance.
SEPTEMBER
Delinquent notices are sent reflecting the September interest 4.5%.
OCTOBER
Update D.M.V. files of outstanding Motor Vehicle tax bills.
DECEMBER
Make Motor Vehicle Supplemental bills for vehicles registered between October 2nd thru August 5th.
JANUARY
Second installment of Real Estate, Personal Property and Motor Vehicles are due and Supplemental tax bills are also payable.
FEBRUARY
Interest on unpaid January installments if not paid, begin to accrue 3% now due.
MARCH
Delinquent notices sent reflecting new interest charges 41/2%.
APRIL
Tax warrants to State Marshall are prepared.
Update Department Of Motor Vehicle delinquent files.
MAY
Begin preparation for next tax year. Send intent to Lien Notices to owners with outstanding Real Estate tax bills.
JUNE
Prepare tax bills and file tax liens with Town Clerk.
 

REMINDER

The second installment of your real estate taxes are due and payable durng January, 2007. The last day to pay without penalty will be February 1st. Post marks are accepted. Payments can be mailed to:

BILLING NOTICE

No other bill will be sent for the January installment on your Real Estate and Personal Property bills, these tax bills are mailed only July of every year, so please mark your calendars as a reminder.

To pay by mail, enclose your first installment coupon with you August payment. For bills payable in two installments save the second coupon for you January payment. Checks can be made payable to the TOWN OF GRISWOLD. Send a stamped, self addressed envelope if you want a receipt. Last day for payment without penalty is August 1, 2007 (1st installment) and February 1, 2008 (second installment). Payments may be made in person at the tax office.

Due Dates-    Tax bills are mailed out on or before July 1st, the due date; and are based on the previous Oct 1st Grand List. Supplement Motor Vehicle tax bills are usually mailed on or before January 1.

Interest-    Delinquent payments are charge 18% per year or l ½ % per month from due date. By state Law, failure to receive a tax bill does no exempt you from paying taxes or interest penalty.
