This public safety organization was established in 1895. Its members are trained in advanced levels of firefighting, EMS, hazardous materials, etc. The department is located in the 1'st district of the town of Griswold. The department is always looking for active volunteers who wish to serve their community. If you wish to join, call the fire station at the number provided and leave a message, or attend one of our weekly training drills which are held Tuesday nights from 6:30-8:00 PM.

The Griswold Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1947. This is a volunteer organization consisting of approximately 45 members trained in various levels of firefighting, emergency medical treatment, hazardous materials, etc. Griswold Volunteer Fire Department responds to over 400 calls each year. The firehouse is located on Rt. 138, Voluntown Road in the Pachaug section of Griswold. Training night is every Tuesday from 7-9 PM, meeting night is the third Tuesday of each month at 8 PM.
