![]() The Griswold Public Schools offer comprehensive educational programs to over 2,200 students in grades PreK-12. These programs include core academics, fine and applied arts, health and fitness, and career path offerings. Special needs are met through programs such as Reading Recovery, PreK classes, special education, gifted and talented and remedial programs. Academics are key with over 70% of graduating seniors continuing their education after high school. A gifted and talented program at the elementary and middle schools and honors courses at the high school keep high ability students challenged. The district boasts Governor=s Scholars for both 2002 and 2003. Student writers have taken many awards in regional and state competitions. Ongoing improvements in student achievement continue to be sought. The recent introduction of exit standards for grades 3,6,8 and 12 helps to ensure that all students are sufficiently proficient before being promoted to the next grade. The school district is well recognized for its student accomplishments. Outstanding individuals and teams have registered numerous conference and state championships over recent years with exceptional performances in cross country, track, soccer, softball, football, volleyball, basketball and baseball. Performing arts have also brought much recognition to the district. Musical productions, an orchestra, choral and band opportunities involve high percentages of the student body. A number of career path programs, including a certified nurses= aide program, a print shop, food and fashion technology, computers, light/sound/video technology and industrial technology help to launch many students into post secondary education and careers.
