JEWETT CITY MAIN STREETSCAPE IMPROVEMENT PLAN PUBLIC INFORMATIONAL PRESENTATION
Kent and Frost, LLC, architectural, land use, and engineering consultants, gave a public informational presentation of the draft Main Street Corridor Streetscape Improvement Plan at Griswold Town Hall at 28 Main Street. It was well attended by business owners and property owners in Griswold as well as other interested residents.

Griswold is part of the Eastern Connecticut Enterpirse Coridor Zone. Griswold celebrtged entrepreneurship and nearly 200 businesses have started in the last five years. New business formation are an improtant part of the economy. Griswold's town government is receptive to businesss development that is compatible with the character of the community and will add to the Grand List.

Griswold is accessible by vehicles from all directions. Exit 85 and Exit 86 off I-395 provide access to Route 138, Route 164 and Route 201. I-395 links with I-95 in East Lyme and with the Massachusetts Turnpike. Freight service is available from the Providence and Worcester Railroad that runs along the western edge of Griswold. Air transportation is avialable at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, approximately 50 miles from Griswold and at T. F Green International Airport in Warwick, Rhode Island, approximately 40 miles from Griswold.

The Jewett City Electric Company offers electric rates that are 20% lower than in surrounding communities. There is access to a labor force of $22,400 withn a short 30 minute drive of Griswold. There is ample sewer capacity for new businesses. Griswold is situated logistically within proximity to major markets. There is availability of large parcels of land in Griswold as well as a lowere cost for commercial property. Griswold is a very affordable area and Town government and residents are pro-business. Griswold has reasonable housing prices and boasts a pleasant rural environment with urban ameneties.
